Wild Teasel in an Autumn Meadow
Teasel is a genus of extremely prickly flowering plants native to the Old World that can grow up to 1.8 meters or even taller. At first glance, it is easily mistaken for thistle—another tall, prickly, non-native plant often found in sunny, disturbed areas. However, teasel is easily recognized by its unusually large, oval flower heads. The seed heads often overwinter, creating a strikingly elegant pattern against the backdrop of snow.
