Badi Lake is an artificial lake built by Maharana Raj Singh to help the city withstand the devastating effects of drought. He named it Jiyan Sagar after his mother, Jana Devi. During the 1973 drought, the lake was a blessing to the people of Udaipur. Today, the lake is a popular attraction for both locals and tourists. Surrounded by three chhatris, Badi Lake is one of the finest freshwater lakes in the country and a major tourist attraction in Udaipur. Located about 12 km from the city centre, the lake's surroundings are calm and tranquil, offering a scenic retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life.
