Hopscotching on the Hexagonal Rocks

Geologically speaking, Giant's Causeway is made up of interlocking hexagonal columns that rise vertically like steps. This is thanks to an ancient volcanic fissure eruption somewhere between 65-23 million years ago. Once all that lava cooled, 40,000 basalt columns emerged with heights reaching up to 36 ft.
