Wounded Tough Guy

The Rhesus Macaque (macaca mulatta) common throughout Afghanistan to northern India and southern China.

They are brown or grey in colour and have pink faces which are typically bereft of fur.
Skin colouration in male and female rhesus macaques is an inherited quality – the first example of heritability for a sexually-selected trait to be described in any mammal.
Skin colour displayed amongst one species of monkey provides a key indicator of how successfully they will breed.

The life span of a rhesus monkey in captivity is approximately 15 – 20 years for males and 20 – 25 years for females. These monkeys rarely live beyond 15 years of age in the wild.
