The Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is a unique forest park located near Zhangjiajie City in northern Hunan Province in China.
The complicated topography, steep cliffs, and deep gullies, as well as the heavy rainfall and dense forests, provide animals with an excellent living environment.
The largest animal population in the park is the rhesus monkey (macaca mulatta), which numbers more than 3,000 and can be found everywhere in the park, playfully jumping from tree to tree. They are unafraid of humans, and will befriend the tourist who offers them food. They are classified into three groups according to fur color: blue macaque, yellow macaque and golden macaque.
