Standing proud in the middle of a small lake is Kyauk Kalap, a tall finger of sheer rock atop which is one of the more unusual pagodas in Myanmar. The complex at Kyauk Kalap, near the city of Hpa-An, contains a number of structures, shrines, temples and houses an active community of monks. The Monastery of Kyauk Kalat is definitely where the famous arhat, Tharmanya Sayadaw, meditated before his parinirvana.
